About the Winning Hackers
Late Night Safety Kit
An app with a number of tools to ensure that Bostonians stay safe on the way to their destination late-night. The hack employs data from the City of Boston to display neighborhood crime levels in a heat map so night owls – or lost partiers – can avoid any danger. The Kit also denotes where the nearest police stations are, so, in the event of an emergency, users will know where to go

We wanted to help alleviate the pollution problem not only in Boston but in the world. Our goal was to provide a portable, personal tracking system where individuals can track the levels of pollution in their city. Through a three component system, individuals take advantage of our ideally portable Arduino tracker that senses carbon monoxide, noise, temperature, humidity, and methane. The hardware also connects with our mobile component where individuals can project their location and track levels of the pollution throughout their day as they move around. The mobile component tracks and compiles the crowd data to our website, which displays a heat map of pollution levels. This way, individuals can see the pollution levels (red for severe, green for good) that they have helped tracked and see the amount of severe areas of concern. As a result, the website provides an incentive to donate to local help centers if they see the problem that they have helped track themselves. You can donate to places like the Boston Air Pollution Control to help alleviate the problems of pollution within the world.

Using advanced geocoordinate watchers, well rounded web backend and a solid native mobile app, the app will allow you to quickly generate funds as well as scale up to any size
